UPDATE! FOR CUSTOMERS OF SUBSCRIBER AND ADVANCE COPIES.
Thanks so much for your orders. Despite the terrible shock of author Steve Plant’s sad passing, his family have insisted on going ahead with the publication of the book as Steve would have wished, on the planned publication date. We will be able to post out your copies of OLD GOLD AND BLACK by Monday 14 October, weeks before it will be available in bookshops.

With OLD GOLD AND BLACK, Steve Plant set out to create the ultimate showcase for his celebrated collection of Wolves shirts, working with Conker Editions to produce a comprehensive, lavishly illustrated book that is accessible to every fan.

There are only a small number of football shirts from clubs the world over that are recognisable by the sheer mention of their colours alone. By specifying a shirt in OLD GOLD AND BLACK, you could only be talking about the famous Wolverhampton Wanderers. The unique colours of Wolves’ strip are a symbol of the history and tradition of a football club that for nearly 150 years has remained ingrained into the fabric of its community roots.

OLD GOLD AND BLACK tells Wolves’ story through a wonderfully evocative collection of matchworn shirts. Stretching back to the Victorian age, it takes in the Golden Era of the 1950s’ floodlit friendlies and the 1960 FA Cup final; covers the 1974 and ’80 League Cup finals and Bully’s favourite hat-trick, right through to the Fosun era and Rúben Neves.

Author Steve Plant reveals for the first time how he has come to assemble such a remarkable collection. Building on his two editions of They Wore the Shirt, Steve has now added 80 more historic shirts, taking the total here to over 200. Features a foreword by Wolves legend Rúben Neves.

About the Author

Steve Plant’s journey into matchworn collecting didn’t begin until 2009 but in the 15 years that have followed he’s put together a stunning collection of shirts and built his own museum full of rare memorabilia while also managing to raise over £250,000 for charity under the ‘They Wore the Shirt’ banner. When not in his beloved museum you will most likely find him over Kinver Edge with his Labradors Lilly, Poppy and Daisy, like Steve they are all Plants!

  1. Cam –

As he says inside the book, this is the Wolves book that Steve Plant always wanted to write – a potted history of the club with the focus firmly on the evolution of the world-famous old gold and black kit. A book that is accessible to all fans, that acts as a handy reference guide and a source of insight for fellow collectors.
How sad that Steve should have passed away before the publication of the book. He would have been proud to see its reception, as Wolves fans at home and across th eworld are able to enjoy a private viewing of his fantastic matchworn shirt collection, with Steve as a personal guide.
